International Conference ‘Transcarpathian Legal Lectures’

Die Lesung

On 25 April 2025, the 17th International Academic Conference ‘Transcarpathian Legal Readings’, on the theme of ‘Relocation in the Context of Extraordinary Legal Regimes’, took place in a hybrid format at the Faculty of Law of Uzhhorod National University (Ukraine).

Alongside several law faculties at universities in Ukraine, Slovakia, Romania and Lithuania, the Centre for Eastern European Law (ZOR) at the University of Graz also helped organise the conference, which was attended (both online and in person) by academics, students and legal practitioners.

The extensive programme of this multilingual event addressed (in separate sessions) seven thematic areas relating to the regulation of relocation, with detailed discussion not only of issues under international law but also of historical-legal, constitutional, public, criminal, socio-cultural, economic, environmental and other aspects were discussed in detail. As part of the section ‘Legal Support for Businesses’, Inga Zelena-Bauer, LL.M., MA from the Centre for Eastern European Law, delivered a presentation in Ukrainian on the topic ‘The Role of the Business Ombudsman Council in the System for Protecting the Legitimate Rights and Interests of Businesses in Ukraine in the Context of Relocation’.

Following the event, a volume containing the papers presented by the conference participants was compiled and published (the full text is available at: http://catalog.liha-pres.eu/index.php/liha-pres/catalog/view/380/11675/26563-1).
