Bernd Wieser on the Russian annexation

Director of the Centre for East European Law and Eurasian Studies (CEELES), Univ.-Prof. DDr. Dr. h.c. Bernd Wieser, gave an interview to the Kleine Zeitung on October 1, 2022 on the Russian annexation of four territories of Ukraine. He pointed out that this act, which is contrary to international law, is tantamount to an attempt at a liberation strike, which, in its perverse definition of international law, not only allows Putin to consider these territories as Russian territory: According to Wieser, the tactic could lie in portraying any attempt to liberate Ukraine as an armed attack on Russian territory.
